Twenty two months ago I was sexually assaulted by a colleague at work. My life completely changed. From being a confident, full time working mother of three, wife, and friend, I became a shadow of myself, with little confidence, reclusive and unable to work.
I have had ongoing support from my local rape crisis centre, SOSRC. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to express the importance of them in my life throughout this. Well, simply my life is intact because of their gift of care for me. They have been the lighthouse guiding me back to shore. Although I am not quite there yet, it is within sight on some days. Before this happened, I ran regularly and went to the gym every week. Running has been a love of mine for many years. I have not run regularly since this happened to me.
So when I saw this opportunity to run for Rape Crisis I knew I had to do it. Please support this amazing charity, they have been my lifeline and getting back to running for me is another step towards getting my life back and a step away from the dark place I have been since it happened.
