Story

Hello Everyone,

I am Raphaela, and I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on the 24th of May 2026 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is my mighty challenge, taking on 26 miles, my longest run yet for a cause that is very close to my heart.

My mother has non-hodgkin follicular lymphoma, and in July 2025 we received the devastating news that her treatment is no longer working, and the next stage will be end-of-life care supported by Macmillan when the time comes. We never expected this outcome after nine different treatments. Despite this news, my mother has been showing us positivity, determination and optimism and Macmillan Cancer Support has been with us along the way, throughout her treatment.

My mother grew up in Edinburgh so this will be a very special run, running past close to where she grew up along the coast in expected windy conditions.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity. 💚
