Story

Team "Not Over the Hill (Yet)"

It all began last year when Keith started climbing Munros in the Scottish Highlands to find his mojo and shed a few pounds. Richard got chatting with Keith over a 'wee dram' (always a dangerous thing to do!) and somehow a plan was hatched to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge. Very soon a team of 5 middle-aged maniacs had taken the pledge...

  • Richard Carman
  • Bruce Carman
  • Keith Carman
  • Matt Hodges-Long
  • Matt Garman

We are also extremely grateful to our dedicated driver, Stuart Christie, without whom we simply wouldn't be able to attempt this challenge.

What's involved

The National Three Peaks Challenge takes on each of the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales...

  1. Ben Nevis - The highest mountain in Scotland and the UK at 1,345 metres high, and the longest walk at around 5 hours
  2. Scafell Pike - The highest mountain in England at 978 metres, Scafell Pike is the smallest of the three peaks
  3. Snowdon - The highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 metres

We will be attempting to climb all three peaks, including driving between them, in under 24 hours. If all goes according to plan, the challenge will start at the base of Ben Nevis at 5:00pm on Fri 19th June, finishing by 5:00pm at the base of Snowdon on Sat 20th June.

Why we're doing this

2 years ago Matt H-L lost his Mum, Anita Long, to a brain tumour. Then last year Richard and Bruce lost their Mum (Keith’s Aunty) to a brain tumour too. And Matt G loves a challenge, especially when it's for a good cause.
