Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2015 · 31 May 2015 ·

People who are deafblind have substantial visual and hearing loss which causes extreme difficulty with communication, information and mobility. We aim to raise aspirations and expand the lives of Deafblind people, some of the least visible and most isolated members of society.

Story

On the 31st of May I will be challenging myself, mentally and physically, to complete the full 26.2 mile Edinburgh Marathon for Deafblind Scotland. My godfather and chairman of DBS, Bob Nolan, has ran multiple marathons, completed various cycle challenges (with his wife Louise) and held many events to raise money and awareness for the charity. Currently he and DBS are setting up a new support centre in Glasgow for the Deafblind to provide them with a safe environment where they can engage in activities and meet others with the same condition. Bob himself suffers from Ushers Syndrome - he is partially deaf and becoming blind - but even with this he has done so much and has really given a great example to myself and many others. I am privileged to be running for such a great cause and any money donated will be so valuable in the development of the "Field of Dreams".
