Raising funds for local Charities

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are hoping to raise a small bit of money for two charities close to our hearts.  Details of the Charities are below.

Daisy’s Dream supports children and their families who have been affected by the life threatening illness or bereavement of someone close to them.

The death or serious illness of a significant person in a child’s life can be devastating and difficult to understand. It can have a major impact on life at home, school life, and friendships.
Parents, carers and professionals can contact us here at Daisy’s Dream for advice on ways to support children and young people. Our professionally qualified family workers can provide information and advice as well as direct support for children in their homes or schools.

We believe that children can learn to cope with death and serious illness if they are given opportunities to understand what has happened and the chance to express their grief.

‘100% of money raised by runners will go to charities, none on overheads.  The majority of funds raised will go to our two main charities, Daisy’s Dream and No. 5. The remainder will be split between other local charities and Rotary Projects to included Reading Samaritans, Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Berkshire Vision and CIRDIC.’’

At times life can be difficult and it can feel hard to cope on your own. No5 is Reading’s young persons counselling centre, dedicated to providing free, confidential counselling and emotional support to anyone between the ages of 10-25.

With over 40 years experience, our skilled staff and volunteers have helped thousands of young people deal with their individual problems, by providing a confidential space where you can explore things that are going on for you with the support of a skilled counsellor.
