18 mile speed march along the Fylde coast, from Fleetwood to Lytham · 3 January 2014

Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children's Hospice provide specialist palliative care to adults and children across the Fylde Coast and much needed support for their families. Our services are available free of charge, but with limited government funding we need to raise over £10 million every year.

Story

We're taking on an 18 mile speed march while carring 20kg each to raise funds for The Gazette's Hospice Heroes campaign.  While the rest of Blackpool recovers from New Year celebrations we'll be donning our full army gear and weights to speedmarch from Fleetwood down to Lytham on January 3, we'll be passing through various town centres and are hoping for your support.

Hospice Heroes is aiming to raise £200,000 for Trinity Hospice and Brian House children's hospice.  This money will be put together with a £280,000 grant from the Department for Health to fund the biggest redevelopment of the Bispham facility since it opened in 1985.  Your donations will help to create single-occupancy rooms in the adult unit and safer, brighter facilities for children.

Everyone on the Fylde coast knows the amazing and important work done by nurses, staff and volunteers at the hospices, providing care and support for those with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.  We want to help secure the future of this vital facility.

Please give as much as you can.  Thank you.
