On 19th September 2011 my best friend Al succumbed to cancer after a 5 year stoic battle against it. Among his many interests he was a keen cyclist and had always wanted to cycle through France to one of his favourite spots in the Dordogne. Saddly this was an ambition he never got to realise.

On 24th July 2013 myself and James (my youngest son) are setting off on our bikes to cycle from Canterbury to the Dordogne where we will rendezvous with Al's family and close friends for a scattering of Al's ashes. Many of the group are themselves taking on a personal challenge by cycling from St Malo to the Dordogne and onwards to Frejus.

My journey of approximately 550 miles will be done over 5 consecutive days and I would like to raise some sponsorship in aid of Cancer Research UK in memory of my old chum.
