Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself and my friend Rebecca Donaldson are running The Manchester Big Fun run in the hopes to raise £150 for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide. I have called ourself Ray of Hope because I am hoping that by raising the money we can help the charity save more lives which is a cause very close to my heart.
My Story:
My name is Jessica and I am 28 years old. Since I was 16 I started feeling extremely low and by the age of 18 I started to have suicidal thoughts. I kept this to myself (until now) as I felt ashamed of how I was feeling due to the taboo surrounding depression. At the age of 23 I gained the courage to see a doctor and have myself diagnosed with clinical depression. I have since had to live with suicidal thoughts and parasuicidal behaviours and recall having to be rushed to a crisis team who wanted me admitted for a week because I was in real danger of taking my life but they decided because of how I was feeling to sedate me at home instead. I am one of the lucky ones and while I still live with these thoughts my heart can only go out to those who are struggling or who have lost someone.
Depression isn't easy and suicide is a real risk to youth today. I want to take my exprience and make something good out of it by raising money for PAYPRUS and you can help us to do so. By sponsoring myself and Rebecca your money will go to save lives. Lives like mine.
