Rayyan's Mt. Everest Challenge

Mt. Everest Basecamp · 27 November 2014
May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon you and your family.
Prophet Muhammad (peach be upon him) said:
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for taking the time and effort to visit my JustGiving page, it is very much appreciated.
We are all now well aware of the plight of our brothers and sisters who are suffering considerably in Palestine; the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip has caused great despair- beyond what we can imagine or even begin to comprehend. Not much else needs to be uttered to do any more justice of their current state; with the reported death toll having surpassed 1000 in under 3 weeks, with over 5000 in urgent need of medical aid and hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes.
These scenes have allowed me to reflect and question, as well as many of yourselves I envisage- what can I do in order to help the powerless? And with the many blessings we have been granted, Alhamdulillah, the least of our responsibilities should be to remember them in the prayers we make and to think of them in the charity we do; the goodness that comes from these very few things we can carry out, will hold great value on the day our deeds are put before us, Insha’Allah.
It has been refreshing to see the fundraising activities take place to help this cause within the locality and it was a humbling experience, on a personal level especially; to be able to realise that there are many people from amongst us that feel the pain of the children of Palestine despite their faith, beliefs or where they come from; this is the foundation we require to move forward as one.
Amid the desolation, there have been a number of heroes whose work must not go unrecognised, namely the surgeons, doctors and nurses who are working day and night, against all odds to help save the lives of those injured; those that help resurrect the faith, bring hope and restore solace to the people of Palestine, in this moment of darkness, SubhanAllah.
For this my dear brothers and sisters, I pledge and make intention to raise funds which will help to fuel one of the very few hospitals which remain, for a day. So, alongside a few friends, I will be climbing Mount Everest on 27th November 2014 for Islamic Relief, to aid in raising these funds and try collecting a minimum of £4000 in the process. I therefore ask you to donate what is within your means and do so whole-heartedly, to provide a form of support to those in great need in Gaza.
I would like to sincerely thank those who have helped spread the message, taken part or generously contributed to this cause whether it is through prayer, or donations. I pray that Allah (SWT) accepts your contributions and rewards you in this world and the hereafter.
Please make dua that Allah (SWT) accepts our intention and lifts the suffering of the oppressed in Palestine and across the globe, Allahumma Ameen.
JazakAllahu Khayran
