We raise awareness & champion research to help PCD patients get the care they need

Story

We have joined together to take on the challenge of running the Richmond half marathon for the PCD Family Support Group . The team are as follows:

Gemma (Physio)
Claire (Consultant)
Julie (Doctor)
Charlotte (Physiologist)
Victoria (Physio)
Amanda (Nurse)
Harriet
Paul

Some of us work within the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) service at the Royal Brompton Hospital or Southampton General Hospital.  Both hospitals provide diagnostic and management services for PCD. Others are family, partners etc who were keen to join in with the fundraising!

PCD is an inherited, relatively rare condition associated with the abnormality of cilia (microscopic hairs that beat in the airways, sweeping secretions out of the respiratory tract).  PCD may affect the lungs, nose, sinuses, ears and fertility.

The PCD Family Support Group is a registered charity which provides support to parents with PCD and their families. They also help raise awareness of the condition to the medical profession and provide an up-to-date information service.
