Story

Dear Friends and Sponsors

We can now let you have the result of our Great North Run. It was a great day, the weather was perfect, we were all at "peak" fitness - at least for desk bound professionals - and therefore much to our delight we all achieved our target times. Ian got there in 1.46, Des 2.09 and me 2.12. To cap it all we got to the finish line in reasonable shape and ready for the picnic that Kate and Karen had waiting for us when we finished.

We have so far raised well over £7000 and the money is still coming in, which is fantastic. The thought of raising over £500 per mile certainly helped to keep us going at the end when it got a bit tough.

It was inspiring to participate in an event involving over 50,000 people, most of whom were just ordinary unathletic people like us. It was even more inspiring and humbling to witness the efforts of the disabled participants. We were lucky enough to be staying in the same hotel as all the elite runners, including the disabled ones. It would be churlish to complain about any aches and pains when you see the hurdles that those guys have to overcome.

We would like to thank you all very much for your kindness and generosity in supporting us. We are delighted to have managed to raise a sizeable and meaningful gift to the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity.

Regards and thanks

Richard, Des and Ian
