500km London to Cornwall Bike Ride · 22 May 2021

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Dom, Jon and I are aiming to raise £2 for every kilometre of our London to Cornwall cycle challenge for the Stroke Association this May (22-26) with a target of £1,000.

We’ve planned the cycle to take just 5 days so we’ll be stopping overnight along the way, here’s our full route:

  • Day 1 - London/Essex to Newbury (past Reading) - 120km / 7h 9m ride
  • Day 2 - Newbury to Bath - 92km / 5h 54m ride
  • Day 3 - Bath to Burnham on Sea - 66km / 4h 14m ride
  • Day 4 - Burnham on Sea to Instow - 122km / 8h 17m ride
  • Day 5 - Instow to Padstow, Cornwall - 104km / 7h 18m ride

Total km = 505km

Total ride time = 32h 12m

We anticipate Day 3 to be the toughest with it being the steepest incline section of the route (in reality we’ll be in the pub on Day 2 watching the final day of the Premier League).

Even though we have a meticulously planned route there’s a high probability we could go off course so we’re preparing ourselves to ride further than the 500km 🙃

We’ll be posting updates and documenting our journey along the way.

We're far from seasoned cyclists so Dom, Jon and I greatly appreciate any donation big or small which helps us towards reaching our goal.

Thank you!
