RUNNING FOR GAP KENYA

RUNNING FOR GAP KENYA · 6 October 2021
We are running at two events. The first is on 30th October 2021 when we will be running a continual 5 hour relay involving adults and children. We estimate that we will run a combined distance which is above that of a marathon. The second event will involve a smaller group of adult runners doing the Tatton Park 10k on 6th November 2021.
Gayle and Paul are a retired Christian couple local to Greater Manchester. At the outset of GAP, they raised awareness locally in churches, town halls, cricket clubs and even the late comedian, Bobby Ball, got involved in their initiatives. They now reside in Kenya. Moving in love for their neighbours, they formed a small registered charity overseen by trustees. Gayle and Paul provide a future for children with no hope, children that forage for food wherever they can. It’s hard to imagine a child looking for their next meal on a refuse tip. It’s hard to imagine a child sleeping in a field for three continuous years. This is the heartbreaking reality.
Living on the street is tough. Take 10 year old Michael. Targeted by paedophiles and in danger of being trafficked, Gap Kenya took him into the foster home where he is loved and sent to school for the first time in his life. This is what we do. Stepping Stones is a daycare centre providing food, showers, teaching, love, and much more. The foster home takes children and sends them to school. And the Joseph centre works with mums and children living on a garbage dump, teaching literacy and tailoring skills, and sending their children to school.
