Story
At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.
So @makerscentral very kindly gave me some space for #makerscentral2020on behalf of @themakersauction
I saw it only fair that any fund raising that was run during the event should go towards, not take away from, their own fundraising goals, which this year were in aid of @bham_childrens . This is who we will be doing this challenge on behalf of, to ensure they continue to get true support they need through this #coronavirus nightmare!
One thing I had planned to run throughout the weekend was #readysteadymake
Where 2 makers were provided the same materials and given 2 hours to make something, live, to then be auctioned off for charity. I’d arranged 4 ‘make-offs’ over the weekend to include the likes of @mattestlea , @sean_evelegh_woodwork and @jake_thompson670 to name but a few.
The Makers Auction has been delayed until next year because there is so much else going on and nap many other incredible raffles and auctions about, it seemed senseless to saturate peoples attention and to put too much stress on makers to continue to participate.
However, I was gutted that #readysteadymake didn’t get to go ahead, and I’ve therefore recruited some of my favourite makers to do a remote, socially distanced version!!
The lucky contestants are:
@brothersmake
@simply_orn8
@camo_customs_
@mancavemakings
They have all been challenged and all have their materials. They have all agreed to do an intro post showing what they have been provided, and they are all allowed to add 2 materials of their choice.
They have until the 10th August to complete their builds, and we will be holding a raffle draw on the 16th August to win all 4 builds!
Raffle tickets are £2 each and it will be run in the same way as @brothersmake ran the #makersforjustice auction. Every £2 donated to the justgivingpage (link in bio) will count as 1 ticket. Except this time there will be no #Alangate because #Alanlivesmatter @woodturningbyalanscannell
Good luck everyone
