Story

REBAA and Thames Hospice – two great organisations working together for their local Berkshire community

The Royal East Berkshire Agricultural Association (REBAA) and Thames Hospice have teamed up to raise funds for the new hospice being built on the Windsor Road between Maidenhead and Windsor. On Sunday 23rd February a historic procession of over 100 tractors will take part in the Tractor Run 2020. Processing through east Berkshire from Winkfield, through parts of Fifield, Moneyrow Green, Holyport and finishing on the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park.

REBAA (patron HM Queen Elizabeth) was formed in 1839 with the mission “For the encouragement of deserving craftsmen, and for awarding Prizes for skills in Agricultural pursuits and for the betterment of agriculture generally.” Today the mission also embraces supporting the local farming community as they work to put food on our tables whilst tackling the ever-changing demands of the environment, legislation and changing consumer desires. This key group of people are deserving of our support and have lent their support to another organisation supporting our community – Thames Hospice.

Thames Hospice is our local charity providing expert care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire. A vital part of their work is also supporting their families and carers. The need for the services that Thames Hospice provides has outstripped the ability of the current site to provide it so the decision was made to build a brand new facility on the A308 Windsor Road by Bray Lake. This facility, projected to cost £22m, will more than double the current capacity and allow Thames Hospice to provide the care the local community needs moving forward.

The Tractor Run 2020 is two local community organisations coming together to help raise funds to make this new facility a reality!

So how can you, the people served by these two great organisations, help?
