Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Wobbleberry Challenge is for middle aged, wimpy riders to complete a BE80 by Autumn 2017, to raise money for the wonderful Willberry Wonder Pony - inspired by Hannah Francis.

For those of you who aren't horsey, a BE80 consists of three parts: a dressage test, a show jumping course and a cross country course. The jumps can be up to 80cm high and 125cm wide.

As I meet all the key criteria (listed below), I thought I'd give it a go:

  • Not currently fit enough to get round a cross county course
  • Not currently brave enough to get round a cross country course
  • Old enough to know better, and know that it will hurt!
  • Dedicated to raising money, to training and conquering the fear
  • Supportive of each other - aiming to be weeble-esque, "we wobble, but we don't fall down'.

Of course, I can't do this on my own, so poor Mr Darcy will have to lose some weight, get fit and conquer his nerves too!

It's going to take a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears over the next six or seven months to get there, but it's all for a great cause. The Willberry Wonder Pony charity funds bone cancer research and 'Willberry's Wishes' (wishes of an equine nature for seriously ill people and their families). It was set up in the name of Hannah Francis, a brave and inspiring young event rider who sadly lost her fight against bone cancer in 2016.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
