Raising funds for kids who don't have it all ~ but who inspire us with their bravery and compassion.

Story

I am committing to do 10 sun salutations every day between August 16 and September 16th for this worthy cause.

MUKTI supports two childrens homes in India: Karm Marg (meaning The Way of Action) and Naz. We have been supporting these homes for over a decade because the work they are both doing is amazing and needs to be supported. Karm Marg is a home for street-children and Naz is the only home for HIV Positive children in India.

For twenty-five years Yogins ~ teachers and students of the Traditional Yoga Association and Garuda ~ have raised funds for homeless and destitute children and women in India. Among the projects we have contributed to are:
  • The building of schools for children on the sites of bonded labour in and around Delhi;
  • A home for abandoned older women in Pune;
  • A home for abandoned children who are HIV Positive or have AIDS in Delhi;
  • A home for street children on the outskirts of Delhi.
  • Projects for the homeless in the UK, including Launchpad (Reading) and Centrepoint (London).

Our big fund-raiser this year is asking you to take up the MUKTI 2021 Sun Salutations Challenge:Get your friends and family to sponsor you to complete a chosen number of Sun Salutations each day or week from the 16th of August to the 16th September. During this period the Sun ~ according to Vedic astrology ~ will be in the astrological sign of Leo, its home. A great time to pay our Sun homage and, as we make ourselves fitter and more mobile, raise funds for ~ and awareness of ~ the kids homes.

The MUKTI Project was established by the Traditional Yoga Association with the support of Garuda Studio, London, to raise funds for street children in India. We also help charities for the homeless in the UK. Everyone who works for MUKTI is a volunteer and none of the funds raised goes to salaries.
