Anthony and Becki take on the 5.2 mile Coniston Lake Chill Swim

Chill Swim Coniston 2021 · 4 September 2021 ·
The last few years have been hard for us all; we have been particularly grateful that we could still enjoy open-water swimming for our mental and physical well-being.
We (Anthony and I) are taking on the challenge of swimming 5.2 miles of Coniston Lake, in less than 2 months and raising money for the charity Level Water. Training has begun in earnest!!
Level Water are the only UK swimming charity who provide specialist one-to-one swimming lessons for children with physical and sensory disabilities.
Once each child has learnt to swim 15m front crawl and backstroke, they can be safe and independent in the water, and can join group swimming lessons or join their local competitive club.
But it's not just about swimming... Through developing independence in the water, and being able to join mainstream classes, each child develops confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
If we can help to give children physical, social and emotional confidence through sport, we can change their trajectory in life.
2021 is going to be tough for Level Water. Their swimming lessons have restarted but they have lost 2/3 of their income for 2020 and now 2021 as well. They are working hard to stay afloat and keep their swimming lessons for children with disabilities running.
Without Level Water, hundreds of disabled children in the UK will not get life changing, 1-1 swimming lessons. Lessons that allow them to be free and safe in the water.
