Story
We are a group of students and members of the community who, over the course of 2021, are going to collectively cycle the 10,000km distance from the UK to Uganda, where the Literate Earth Project is eradicating illiteracy one school library at a time!
The Literate Earth Project (LEP) (www.theliterateearthproject.org) is a UK registered charity. LEP's mission is to establish literate communities in developing countries by putting books in the hands and minds of children. With a belief in harnessing the power of local communities, they provide culturally and educationally relevant books, financing, and educational expertise to communities in Uganda.
In doing this, the Literate Earth Project provides Ugandan children with the world of possibilities that only books can provide. Their libraries instill a love of reading and self-confidence, to help every child learn, grow and thrive.
