50 miles for 50,000 people living with Leukemia in the UK

Bex's Blood cancer quest · 20 October 2022
Hi Everyone
I am taking on a challenge of running 50 miles in 31 days . I will start on October 20th and finish November 20th…. With a break in between obviously 😅. It may not seem a lot to some but my hobbies these days include eating, drinking and chilling so believe me, it really is a challenge 😉 and I figure that if my mum has to go through chemotherapy then I can suffer a few miles a day.
I know that I am the last person anyone would expect to do this sort of thing but sometimes you need to do these things to feel like you’re helping when in reality you feel helpless.
After the rubbish time with my dad this year a few weeks after coming home in August my lovely mum got diagnosed with ALL, Acute lymphoblastic Leukaemia, which is a form of blood cancer.
She had been feeling really tired but put it down to how hot it had been and she also noticed she was bruising really easily and quite badly.
A bone marrow test revealed leukemia.
The consultant said it was aggressive and dangerous and she needs treatment asap. He referred mum to Barts hospital and she is due to go into hospital next week to start her chemotherapy, she will spend at least 4 weeks there having it as an inpatient in the hope to put her in remission and then hopefully all being well… fingers, toes and everything else crossed, she can receive a stem cell transplant, It is a long old road ahead but with a positive attitude and a heart full of love she has no option but to get through it.
We all feel over whelming emotion of worry, panic, wanting everything to be ok and wanting to be there every second of the day, which we know that’s not possible, so in a small selfish way I am doing this to keep my mind positive and focused BUT also and more importantly to raise money for Blood cancer UK.
If it wasn’t for them and all of the hard work that they do then my mum wouldn’t even get the chance of a stem cell transplant which will save her life.
I’m well aware that everything costs so much at the moment but if you could spare even £1 I would be truly grateful.
Im doing it for my mum and anyone else who is fighting, with all of their will, this horrible cancer.
Me and all of my family will be with her every step of the way and there for the good and bad days.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate anything that you can kindly donate.
(Also can’t wait to be that person uploading my running maps to my Instagram 🤪)
