PCI’s mission is to empower people to enhance health, end hunger, and overcome hardship.

Story

In an attempt to get fit and do something a bit different, I joined a group of local ladies for some swimming practice. Before I knew it I had been convinced to sign up to swim a mile in the (cold) Serpentine and been introduced to the world of wetsuits and emergency safety floats. So now that I’ve signed up and bought a wetsuit, I’d like to raise some money for a great charity, and make it harder for myself to back out.

Project Concern International runs a program called Women Empowered which supports groups of women in developing countries to form saving circles. Through education and funding they are able to save and lend money within their community, and in the process form a supportive group for each other.

Given that I am training with a group of local women, it seems fitting that I raise money for groups of women supporting each other in their communities.

If you’d like to sponsor me I’d be very grateful.
