Story

This year I’ve (possibly crazily!) decided to take on the London Marathon for the amazing charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

As some of you may know, I work for Macmillan and get the privilege to see first hand some of the incredible work the organisation does. From establishing new resources and services in trusts and hospitals, to providing direct support (emotionally, clinically and financially) through their own Support Line, and constantly campaigning and influencing to raise awareness and push for change, the work of Macmillan really does make a difference  to people affected by cancer. I want to take on this challenge to help support this vital work and enable the charity to make even more impact.

I also have a direct and personal reason. Sadly, like many of us now, loved ones close to me have had their own cancer diagnoses and Macmillan has been there to support them and those around them, including myself. But I know not everyone has had the fortune of this support, which is why through taking on this challenge I hope to be able to raise some more funds for the charity and continue to raise awareness. When the training runs get tough and I hit that brick wall on the day itself, it will be for them, those still with us and those that sadly aren’t anymore, that I’ll keep going.

If you would like to and are able to sponsor me, any donations, whatever the size, are so appreciated and will definitely help keep me going through my remaining training and the big day itself. I’ve also linked my Strava account to this page, where I’m documenting my training, in case you’re interested in seeing how I’m getting on (apologies in advance for some of the sweaty selfies!).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.

Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
