Story
Hello!
I've taken this crazy half marathon challenge on in memory of a very caring and loving chap, who, despite suffering with MS - a really horrible and unforgiving neurological disorder - for over 25 years, was a shining example to us all.
Uncle Aubrey always wore a smile, never once asked 'why me?' and had the most infectious laugh and bubbly personality.
So these miles are in his memory, and (fingers crossed) I hope to raise lots of pennies for the brilliant Multiple Sclerosis Society at the same time.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects around 100,000 people in the UK with the majority of people being diagnosed between the ages of 20-40.
Once diagnosed an individual has MS for life. As the illness progresses, more and more nerve fibres are damaged, causing a horrible accumulation of disability.
The affect this has on their life, and on the lives of their family and friends is huge.
At present, there is no cure and that is why Multiple Sclerosis Society needs crazy people like me to run the miles and kind people like you to donate.
Money kindly donated funds further research into the illness, further research into ground breaking treatment programmes and just as importantly, supports the individual and their loved ones through the whole process.
So, as I clock up the miles training in preparation for the GNR, I’d hugely appreciate your support not only in memory of Uncle Aubrey but for all the affected individuals and families across the UK.
Thank you so much,
Becky X
