Story

As a massive thank you and to show our appreciation for all the care given and love shown  to Tadhg by the amazing nurses, doctors, care staff, volunteers and everyone who helped him during his stay in St Peter's ward in his first few weeks, before he was well enough to come home and for the kindness shown to us during that time, I am going to run (walk / jog / crawl) the distance from my home to CHI Crumlin.. 204km between now, 3rd June and 3rd July 2020.

CMRF Crumlin have shared this piece about our experience of St Peters ward while Tadhg was a patient there last yesr:

Update 3rd July 2020:

I would just like to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for the support, encouragement and generosity shown on my run and fundraiser for CMRF Crumlin. A huge €3,506 has been raised from your kind donations and I'm so happy that this money will be going to help the amazing and wonderful nurses and doctors and all the care staff in St Peters ward Crumlin in their care of the babies they look after when these little people need it most! I really cannot express my thanks to them for all they done for Tadhg when he was there for his first 5 weeks last year 💙

I think the pandemic has made us all appreciate the incredible and selfless work of our health care and front line workers. Although my fundraiser has been to raise funds for CMRF Crumlin as a thanks for the care given to Tadhg, I would also like to thank Maternity hospital galway especially the scan unit and the midwives in St Catherine's ward who took great care of myself and Tadhg before he was born, the team who delieved him unexpectedly on that Wednesday afternoon and the amazing midwives in the Labour ward who brought me back to health and kept me sane after Tadhg was born and until I could be with him. To the amazing volunteers of Bloodbikes West who brought milk from me in Galway to Tadhg in Crumlin and to my surgeon and his team who since my own sickness in 2013 have always been amazing to me. He got me healthy and home back then to my now big baby and last year once again got me to my little baby. And also to the paediatric teams in crumlin and uchg who Tadhg will see from time to time, hopefully just to show them how well he is doing!!

This last month and run has given me lots of time to think about all that has happened and take stock, I feel so grateful for all the medical care we have ever received and continue to receive!

Thank you again for supporting my fundraiser and donating to such a brilliant cause!! And for all the well wishes to Tadhg, he really is made of tough stuff and is such a blessing to us!

And biggest thank you to my my nearest and dearest and my family and friends 💙 Special thanks to Eoghann for doing so much of this with me... A proud big brother x
