Thank you for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be very grateful for your support. 

I am a 2nd year PhD student at Newcastle University, funded by the British Heart Foundation and I am currently investigating the genetic regulation of the development of the great vessels of the heart and what happens when this does not work as expected. Congenital heart disease is a significant cause of illness and death in childhood, and is known to affect approximately 1 in 100 births. It is hoped that a better understanding of how genes interact in cardiovascular development can help improve patient outcomes

As well as pioneering work into congenital heart defects, the BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people still lose their lives to cardiovascular disease. With support from the public, the BHF funds research into these areas to drive the direction of care and treatments. . 

As the BHF are the funding body for my PhD and support the research I do, I wanted to give back and help support them with my fundraising campaign for this year's GNR! Every share and pound helps so please give what you are able to in order to help me hit my target.
