The Running Charity delivers running & fitness programmes to homeless young people in the UK. Our life-changing work tackles the underlying issues that can compound homelessness by developing resilience, improving their mental health and kick starting their motivation and fitness.

Story

I told you I was training for a marathon and I would never ask you to sponsor me again........

I LIED!!!!!!!

This is the event I have been in training for my whole life. On Thursday 13th Feb and my club mates will run 4 times 400m at Regent's Park track, drinking a can of 335ml 5% beer at the start of each lap. There is a 10m transition zone in which to drink beer. The start is at the first meter of the transition zone to ensure a full mile is run. If I vomit I must run a penalty lap. This mammoth task of speed and co-ordination is also known as the 5th Annual Karl Baddeley Beer Mille.

I am taking part in this to fundraise for our club's fantastic nominated charity (and have some fun). I hope you will sponsor me as this event combines 2 passions of mine to raise money for vulnerable teens.

The Running Charity believes that running is as good for your mind as it is for your body. Running builds resilience and self-esteem, and they use this to improve the lives of 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Homelessness can happen at any time and to anyone. And when it happens to a young person it can affect them for the rest of their life. They use running to improve fitness and instil a goal-setting mentality that are key tools in helping these vulnerable young people to build healthy, sustainable futures.

Thank you x
