Rebecca runs. Sometimes.

Brighton Marathon 2017 · 9 April 2017 ·
A little over a year ago running a marathon was nothing more than something to tick off a bucket list. A concept. An idea. Potentially something that might just be 'a bit long and boring'.
Roll forward a year and with just one week to go a marathon seems like well... a marathon! 2 miles of coaxing my body to run, 6 miles of enjoyment followed by 18 miles of HELL with a tiny 0.2 mile sprint of elation to finish. A little cherry on the top of 26 total miles if you will.
What started off with moderate cockiness: "I could probably run a marathon with a little training" (emphasis on the little), has sneakily become a brazen feat of the foolhardy and dare I say woefully underprepared.
Now, question time:
Can Rebecca run 26.2 miles? Who bloody knows. Will Rebecca's knees give up? Probably. Will Rebecca run 26.2 miles? Yes, and this is where you come in lovely people. A little over three years ago we lost a dear friend Ceri very suddenly, without warning due to SADS, Sudden Arrhythmic (or Adult) Death Syndrome.
Cardiac Risk in the Young help to prevent this:
"Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk"
So please please help and donate to this worthwhile cause, a cause that I feel passionate about, and I promise to tell you more about jelly babies, gels and that time I ran smack into a bus stop...
Finally I need a banging running playlist for the '18 miles of HELL' part, so please feel free to donate and suggest a song at the same time!
