Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Firstly, sorry for the long story but I wanted to show I have not just chosen a charity lightly.
I have chosen to raise money for Morecambe Bay hospitals Charity. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible by completing a Tandem Skydive on Saturday 16th July 2016. During this skydive I will free-fall from up to15,000 FT at around 120 MPH. Scary? Yes!
“Take every risk, Drop every fear!”
I am hoping the risk of a skydive will encourage people to donate money to this fantastic charity so they continue to help people.
Growing up I wasn’t like most girls, I was frequently called a ‘Tom Boy’ because dolls didn’t interest me football and sports did. When I was 16 I got injured. I struggled to do everyday tasks like walk round a supermarket let alone sport. After months of physio, consultations, strict diets and tests the dreaded news came. The only chance of getting better was to have an operation. As soon as I heard those words within seconds I had replied, “I want the operation”.The consultant advised I have to fully understand the risks involved. There is a chance you may never walk properly again and even if the operation is successful the pain may only improve by 5 or 10%. It didn’t stop there though, the chances of me playing sport again were extremely slim and it was advised for this reason, i should not choose to have the operation, if I was only doing it to try and play sports again. When I was 17 I had the operation, it wasn’t until I was being wheeled down to theatres that reality hit. When I wake up I may not walk again without a walking aid and I may never participate in sport ever again. My future was in the consultants hands. Never have I been so scared in my life!
Was it worth it? YES it was! Following a SUCCESSFUL operation and rehabilitation at Furness general Hospital. I have since played football again against the odds and have been lucky enough to achieve my DREAM of coaching football in America! I spent 3.5 months Travelling around the Mid-West coaching children the sport I love most! Life doesn’t get much better than that!
So there it is, my reason for choosing this great charity. It is so easy to take your local hospital for granted and forget the fantastic work they do.Working for the NHS has been an eye opener, you would not believe how much everything costs. The NHS provides great care but this care doesn’t come cheap.
so ...... Please, Please give your share to show you care!
