Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create a force that cancer can't ignore.

I discovered I had breast cancer in 2009 when I was 6 weeks pregnant with our fourth child. it had already spread to my lymph nodes- I had to have an immediate mastectomy and lymph node clearance. When I was 12 weeks pregnant I started chemotherapy which lasted for most of my pregnancy - I gave birth to a perfect and gorgeous boy- Archie- in July 2010. The first 3 weeks of his life were spent in the freeman hospital while I had radiotherapy- not the greatest start in life- but his three elder sisters gave him lots of TLC at home! 

Unfortunately in October 2012 it was confirmed that I had secondary breast cancer in my spine. Further spread was discovered in 2013 and I began more chemotherapy. I am currently on a clinical trial for a new drug that will slow the progression of more disease.

If it weren't for events like race for life raising money for research into cancer Its extremely unlikely I'd be alive. I am hugely grateful. Taking part in race for life is one way that I can show my gratitude and my determination to remain strong in body, mind and spirit. I want to run it  the best that I can and ask that you show your belief in me by putting some sponsorship money forward.

I will also run for my mum- cynthia- who died of ovarian cancer. I never heard her complain. I will also run for many friends who I know have walked the cancer road with THEIR close friends and family. And I will also run for my wonderful husband and our four children to show them I'm alive and kicking and will never give up!

Cancer may be robbing me of a healthy body, but I refuse to let it rob me of a healthy attitude.
