Rwanda 2011

I decided at the start of 2011 that I would do something significantly positive for someone else this year. I haven't saved a life or fed the 5,000 yet but I reckon this is a step in the right direction.
I'm off to Kigali, Rwanda on the 22nd of October, 2011 for a week to set up a Computer School for young orphans who survived the genocide of the mid-90s.
A few friends and I will be partnering with a local charity there, Solace. The aim is to raise enough money to buy 20 to 30 PCs and/or laptops, and train local teachers connected to the charity to use the computers efficiently, thereby empowering them to teach potential students.
This will give the children a good foundation in IT, increasing their chances of employment in the country and general awareness through the use of the Internet.
To offer your support of this initiative, you can either make a financial contribution or donate new laptops/PCs, depending on which is preferable and more convenient for you. In return we will produce a short brief giving an overview of the project, the key highlights including pictures, videos, as well as an objective view on the benefits/impact it has made on the Rwandan people from some of their own. This can be expected within a month of our return which is currently scheduled for the 29 October 2011.
Thanks!
