Casa Alianza Mexico (Compass Children's Charity in the UK) provides care and protection to former street children, aged 12-18 years, who have experienced extraordinary trauma in the form of abuse, neglect, violence, abandonment, addiction to harmful substances, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Casa Alianza provides a safe space for these children through 6 homes in Mexico City and a separate home for teen mums and their babies.

After the Earthquake that hit Mexico City on 19 September, three of the seven Casa Alianza shelters were severely damaged, meaning that over 50 children had to be evacuated, leaving behind the only place they know as home. In addition, over 20 adolescent mothers and their children have had to evacuate their home because the building was simply unsafe.

All seven residential homes have no power. Food is running low and damage to roads and the collapse of buildings is preventing Casa Alianza staff from transporting supplies across the city. Without gas, they are unable to cook basic food for the children and water is at risk of contamination.

Casa Alianza staff is rushing to find alternative accommodation to keep all the children safe.We have decided to redirect our fundraising efforts to support the children of Casa Alianza stay safe in the aftermath of this disaster. Once the immediate danger is gone, we will continue to monitor the situation with Casa Alianza Mexico to ensure that all the funds raised are used where they are needed the most.
