Take 4 women, one 5k trail run, a 50 metre swim, an 85ft mud bank climb and a miltary obstacle course - TWICE!!
The Race:- the complete course will be two 5km laps.
Obstacle Course;- The “conditioning” obstacle course will be a test of our basic motor skills and physical condition. We will have to negotiate walls, hurdles, scramble nets, balance beams and tunnels.
Mud Bank Climb;- The mud bank is 85ft high, Don't Look Down....! First we will have to negotiate a 12ft "A-Frame Ladder, then be faced with an 85ft climb! This will be a test of our upper body strength and a test of skill and agility....
River Crossing;- a 50 meter open water swim. The environment agency's latest water quality data shows the River Derwent at Darley Abbey "Grade A" or "very good".... But we have been advised not to drink it....hic..!
So why are we doing this? We recently became involved with the Albaraca Nursery School in Gambia. So far we have sponsered a child, provided a teachers training for a year and provide funds for a laptop. But we know we can do more!
The Albaraca Nursery School provides nursery education for 150 children between the ages of three and seven. It is located in Sukuta, a medium-sized town in The Gambia, West Africa. There is no state provision of nursery school education in The Gambia, so the Albaraca Nursery School provides an important service to the community. The word "Albaraca" means "Thank you" in the local Mandinka language.
The school is funded almost entirely by donations and sponsorship in the UK and has been established as a UK Registered Charity since 2001.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please consider the pain and probably humiliation that we will go thorugh during this challenge and dig deep and donate now. (Photos avaliable on request, for a small fee)
