The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life. We provide information, advice, advocacy, respite, support services, hold talks, patient education seminars and training.

Story

For many years I have
been interested and concerned about the lack of support and awareness of sickle
cell disease.

There has been little progress in alleviating
the suffering that comes with this disorder.

It is a condition suffered particularly and
uniquely to people of Afro Caribbean, Asian, Mediterranean and Arab decent,

and although it has been discovered since the
1950's there has been very little progress in alleviating the suffering that
and pain caused by this disorder.

My interest in supporting this cause is to raise
awareness for this vulnerable group as there is little support known to this
group of individuals.

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm
raising money for Sickle Cell Society UK and your contribution will make an
impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for
your support. I've included information about Sickle Cell Society UK below.

The Society’s mission is to enable and assist
individuals with a sickle cell disorder to realise their full economic and
social potential. This is achieved by improving opportunities for sickle cell
affected individuals and families by raising public awareness through
education, advocacy together with the provision of direct welfare services, assisting
in research and lobbying.
