Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon 2019 · 29 September 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This year, 2019, I will be taking part in 3 half marathons between September and October plus a shorter run in November.
Some weeks ago, I received some more sad news and unexpected, that another friend had passed away from Cancer. I'm hoping that her partner won't mind me putting this, but it gives me more motivation to do what I can and help Macmillan Cancer support to find a cure.
Her name was Karen Atkinson, she was a bubbly kind of person whom had a smile on their face all the time, a warm character, to those that she came into contact with. She also helped a huge amount with my 40th Birthday celebrations 7 years ago and I won't ever forget that, she made it one night to remember.
Earlier this year, another great friend: Ady Richards, had also sadly passed away from Cancer. Ady helped me with my running from 2011 onwards, and I will always appreciate that. Ady also ran the Robin Hood Half Marathon in 2012, finishing slightly ahead of me. He is pictured upon 2 photos below, that were taken with me at the finish line at the Robin Hood Half Marathon in 2012.
So, this time round, the Robin Hood Half Marathon will be in memory of 2 great friends that have sadly passed: Karen Atkinson and Ady Richards.
The runs this year will be: the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2019 on: 29/09/2019 (also my Birthday!), the Birmingham Great Run on: 13/10/2019, Worksop Half Marathon 2019 on: 27/10/2019 and also: Derby 10 mile 2019 on: Sunday 17th November 2019.
Last year, I took part in 2 half marathons and a shorter run, plus a Swimathon to top it all off! You can donate directly via my JustGiving page. Any amount is welcome.
It would be great to have some people at the Robin Hood Half Marathon on the 29th September to give me some support on the day. If you knew Karen or Ady, it'd be great to see you on the day to cheer me on. If you do go to one of the runs that I am taking part in, take a camera! But it'd be great to receive a few good luck messages and the like.
Thanks again.
