Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

Running the London Marathon has been a goal of mine for a very long time and after years of entering the ballot, I have been lucky enough to be selected!!

Unfortunately however I had been accepted into the 2020 race but due to the pandemic and after completing all of my training, it was cancelled. Now, forward two and a half years later and a 22 month old boy I am finally hoping to complete it on the 2nd of October.

Even though I have a ballot spot, this is an incredible opportunity to encourage all my family, friends, work colleagues, neighbours, kind strangers to donate to two causes which are very close to my heart and I have been overwhelmed with the response so far. I was able to raise £1790 (£2185 with Gift Aid) in 2020. The two charities have received all of this but I know many want to donate more and so I created this page.

The first is Al-Ayn, a charity which supports orphaned children, allowing them access to psychological rehabilitation, medical care, educational support, housing and much more to make sure every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. This charity began in Iraq, a country that’s very dear to me. A report from the United Nations in 2008 said that there was “around 870,000 children orphaned by the death of one or both parents in Iraq.” Al-Ayn are continuing to reach out to more orphaned children, however to date they are only able to provide help to 57,000 orphans living in poverty.

My second chosen charity is Vasculitis UK. Prior to 2019, my knowledge of this autoimmune condition was very limited. My father was diagnosed with this rare inYammatory disease recently and there are only 2-3,000 new diagnosis per year! His went unrecognised for a long time. He su\ered from joint pain and chronic coughs. Any vessel in the body can get inYamed in vasculitis. Unfortunately, it has no known cause and no cure and patients can drift in and out of hospital. Vasculitis UK support those who have been diagnosed with this awful disease.

I need all the motivation I can get so any and all support would be absolutely amazing. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all of your encouragement.
