Volunteer trip to build a school in Senegal · 12 March 2022

Let's Build My School is an organisation that acts for the access to education in Senegal. Our charity builds low-cost (such as tyres and sand bags) classrooms in remote Senegalese villages lacking education facilities. Let's Build My School works hand by hand with local communities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This money will cover the cost of construction materials and fees needed for volunteers to help in building The Sambou Toura School that was designed of Earth Bricks by SOMStudio in Columbia. The school is existing in Marsassoum, Senegal, but built as a temporary structure, with woven bamboo walls that are collapsing frequently. LBMS, with your help will be building a safe building to house the much needed school using local sustainable materials (mainly Earth).

Earth building is an ancient technique of building, that mostly uses existing soils onsite which makes it cheaper and more sustainable.

LBMS Mission:

They focus on finding construction techniques that are affordable, user-friendly, and do not require specific construction skills. We use locally sourced and readily available materials.

Their long-term goal is to benefit local communities by empowering them with new skills and building methods that are practical and cost-effective, and that can be replicated independently whenever required.
