Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

Reid was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 25th December 2020 - subsequently confirmed as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) - and died on 6th April 2022

With the support of the neurosurgery and oncology teams at Charing Cross Hospital (part of Imperial College) Reid lived for a little over 15 months and, despite the challenges of covid, we had many good months and good times with family and friends.  But he was only 58 and the options available for treatment were so limited and the prognosis frankly awful.

GBM is a devastating disease , with 75% dying in less than one year, and there has been little progress in treatments available  for many many years.

In his memory and in lieu of funeral flowers we would, therefore, very much appreciate any donations to the Brain Tumour Research Charity where funds donated in Reid’s name will be spent on brain tumour research - via their fund a research day - at Imperial College.
