Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please help me smash my fundraising goal !! I know that a lot of people run 10k for a laugh, but I'm certainly not one of them (yet !) !

Harry is a fantastic, 9 year old boy I know, who is full of life & into everything all boys his age are into. Tragically just after his 5th birthday he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

This means that his family know that by his 10th birthday it is likely that he will be in a wheelchair and his upper body will begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition leaving him locked inside his own body. As a parent myself, I cannot imagine what the whole family are going through and they need our support.

As a muscular degenerative disease eventually his heart and lungs will fail almost certainly before he is 30.The most difficult part is that there is no cure, it will happen and it is 100% fatal.

There is a large amount of research currently taking place in the UK and abroad but as yet the only treatment is a steroid program to help manage the disease. NICE has now approved a drug called Translana, but it's not suitable for all boys and only slows down symptoms, so research into a cure is critically important to cure ALL boys.
