It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember our dear colleague and friend, Carlos Camoira, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday 10th January 2023.

It was almost 8 years ago that Carlos joined the Excelcare Family in Cambridge as a painter and decorator, which led him on to becoming our dedicated and hardworking Estates & Facilities Manager in the Cambridge region.

A real ‘muscle man’, Carlos would leave all of the ladies in the care homes swooning as he travelled the region in his white vest and overalls, helping them with their maintenance work – but ultimately, it was his wonderful colleague Sarah who won his heart.

Carlos and Sarah were inseparable and enjoyed many happy memories together in their 6 years together. Carlos took Sarah on so many holidays that his friends at work would call him Judith Chalmers!

After a romantic proposal in Tenerife, Carlos and Sarah said their wedding vows last September. Carlos was also thrilled to officially become a stepdad to Chloe, Sarah’s daughter, and treated her to a tool-kit for Christmas.

Carlos will be remembered by his Excelcare family in Cambridge and beyond as a true hero – someone who was always dependable and reassuring, took the time to get to know every person at every care home, and was a real pleasure to have met.

We have set up this page to raise money to help his loved ones as they celebrate his life.

The loss of Carlos will leave a big hole in our hearts, and we will all miss him more than words can express. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carlos’ family during this time.
