Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hywel Morgan died on Friday 10th June 2022 on Poppit Sands beach while rescuing a child from a riptide. Those who knew Hyw will know he was a generous and selfless soul who went out of his way to help others. Since his passing, a number of people have reached out hoping to give back a little of the same generosity Hyw demonstrated in life. Therefore, we would like to raise money for the RNLI in his memory to help support a volunteer service which does amazing and essential work helping to rescue people at sea.
The local coastguard and the RNLI attended the incident and worked tirelessly to rescue Hyw and the 11-year old boy he saved. As a family, we are exceedingly grateful to these men and women who put themselves in dangerous positions, often risking their own lives, daily. While Hyw lost his life, we know that hundreds of people are saved at sea every year and we hope this money goes some way to helping to ensure that no other family has to lose a loved one as we have lost Hyw.
We'd like to say thank you for the messages and support we've received over the last few days. We are overwhelmed by the love and kindness from those who knew Hyw and those who have been touched by his story. It is comforting to know how well respected and deeply loved he was by so many people.
With love and gratitude,
Hywel's family.
