Hi thank you for taking the time to read my story. As most of you may know on the 24th September 2011 my mum was taken from us. She had suffered with Alzheimers (dementia) and eventually lost her battle. It was a horrible hard time for us as a family, as watching mum deteriorate in front of us was hard and scarey. When you walk in and she doesn’t know who you are and the next day says that she hasn’t seen you in days and that you don’t care , it’s heartbreaking. It’s also hard to deal with but luckily I had amazing family and friends helping me through it.
Alzheimer’s/dementia has also touched many other members of mine and my wife’s family, it has a devestating effect on so many people.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
