Story
How crazy would you have to be to drive 4,200 miles from England to The Gambia in West Africa over the biggest desert on Earth - including 400 miles of off-road desert - in a car worth less than £100 ? Well, that is what we, Mike Taylor and John Ironmonger, [Team: Reservoir Frogs] will be doing in February 07 as part of the annual Plymouth—Banjul Challenge, a ‘banger rally’ that aims to raise money for charities in Gambia by auctioning the cars that survive the journey. Check out details of the rally on www.plymouth-banjul.co.uk/ We shall be raising money for ‘Kids Action’— an organisation that looks after destitute children in Sierra Leone and Malawi, helping them to make improvements to their orphanage in Freetown - like introducing running water and toilets. If you sponsor us, you can sign your name on the car (a 1988 Renault 5 since you asked). Or ask us about having your logo proudly painted on.
We will also make the whole trip carbon neutral by supporting tree planting in new forests to replace the carbon used in our fuel.
Please help us by sponsoring us today and by sending this webpage to your friends. Thanks. John and Mike
