Story

Hello and welcome to the Retro Remakes fund raising page. Thanks for popping by.

Why is this here? Why are you here? Well, that's a pair of easy questions to answer. In 2008 we decided to once more dive headfirst and run another big competition. One of the conditions that we at Remakes Towers agreed to run the competition was if we could do something a little more than just get some games made. There's competitions all over the internet that on a daily basis just get some games made, there's not that many that can actually help go towards physically helping people out. And that, dear readers, was the choice we made.

After a fine chat with the wonderful Barrie Ellis of oneswitch.org.uk, we introduced the Games For Helen category into the competition. Games For Helen is a project organised by SpecialEffect to bring an inclusive arcade experience to kids and young adults in the hospices Helen and Douglas House.

And then we thought "why stop there?". And that's why you're here no doubt. We'd like to see if as well as raising games, we can raise a bit of cash for the cause too. Together, we can all help the sterling work that SpecialEffect do across the UK. We're all gamers, or we wouldn't be here. Lets help get more gamers out there and more people enjoying our hobby/work (delete as applicable) and bring some smiles to some kids faces.

If you're a developer who's entering the competition or has entered a previous competition and wants to do a little bit more, then please - click on the donate button.

If you're a site visitor, just passing by or especially someone who's downloaded and enjoyed either our latest competition entries or any of the games published or reported on our site and want to say a special thank you, then please - stick your hand in your pocket and chuck a few quid over to a good cause.

Or, you know, if you're just feeling generous...

Lets make a difference, people. We can do this.

It doesn't have to be a lot, just a few Earth Squids can make a drastic difference. We set the original target for £500 - thanks to everyone's kind generosity and donations we reached that in December 2008. Can we double it? It's certainly worth a try.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to donate: SpecialEffect gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please, donate now and lets do some good in this world.
