Story
Welcome to my fundraising page on behalf of CoppaFeel!
On 6th August I’m going to be taking part in the London Triathlon. The event that I will be doing is the Olympic triathlon: 1500m swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running; in the docks around the Excel Centre, then over and back to Westminster and finally to Billingsgate and back. I’ve been training for several months, gradually getting fitter and preparing myself for the challenge.
This will be the second fundraiser that I’ve done in aid of CoppaFeel. Last year’s walk from London to Brighton was extremely tough, and I fully expect that dipping my feet into the world of triathlon to be just as challenging. It will again be in the memory of my wonderful sister Sarah, who we lost back in 2020.
In her last year Sarah became a supporter of CoppaFeel, a charity focused on breast cancer awareness. CoppaFeel's mission is to educate young people of the importance of regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests for signs of concern. The aim is to get them to develop the habit of being aware of their bodies and to give them the knowledge and confidence to visit their GP early enough if something doesn’t seem right – feeling empowered and comfortable doing this could be critically important.
CoppaFeel spread their message directly to young people and to this end, Sarah (and her sister Rachel) both signed up as a CoppaFeel ‘Boobette’. Rachel is still involved with CoppaFeel as a boobette and regularly gives talks to schools, youth groups and workplaces around her home in Kent. I’ll always be deeply proud of my sisters for doing this to help educate and support other young people.
So that’s why I’ll be doing the London Triathlon for Sarah and CoppaFeel, thank you so much for your donation and support!
