Story

This year I've decided to set myself an ambitious goal. I'll be taking part in the Kilimanjaro Trek in aid of WWF. I'll be undertaking this challenging 6-day trek eventually reaching the Roof of Africa at 5,895m, the highest free-standing mountain in the world!

My challenge will support WWF, who are the world's leading independent conservation organisation with the mission to create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together. I'm supporting WWF because we are the first generation that knows we are destroying the world, and the last that can do anything about it. Our planet is suffering but together we can make a difference and fight for our world. That is why any donation big or small, sharing my fundraising page, or even just spreading awareness of WWF is hugely appreciated!

Thank you for all your support. If you'd like to find out any more information or join the fight for our world please visit https://www.wwf.org.uk/

Why is important to support WWF?

  • 7,140 meters squared of the Amazon Rainforest is destroyed every 2 seconds - equivalent to thte size of football pitch being destroyed.
  • 1/3 of all the food in the UK is wasted each year.
  • After a century of decline, over all tiget numbers are increasing in Asia. There are now approximately 3,900 tigers left in the wild. There are still more tigers in the US in captivity than in the wild.
  • 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into our oceans each year.
  • Since the 1970s, 68% of global wildlife population has disappeared.

Your incredible support can make a BIG difference:

  • £3 - could buy 1 bamboo seedling to be planted in degraded panda habitats.
  • £20 - cuould pay for 25 syringes, needed for collecting polar bear blood samples
  • £50 - could pay for a 'pinger' to use on a fishing net to stop accidental entanglements of dolphins.
  • £100 - could pay for a half day boat hire, to plant seagrass meadows around the UK coastlines.
  • £280 - could pay for pair camera traps to monitor leopardis.
  • £500 - could pay for firefighting equipment to help ocmbat forest fires which have devasted Amur Leopard habitat in the past.
  • £1,000 - could fit satellite colours to four elphants to monitor their movements and help reduce human-wildlife conflicts and protect against poaching.
  • £3,000 - could help WWF provide a drone to monitor and prevent deforestation and fires in the Amazon.
  • £6,000 - could help organise and run a human-elphant conflict workshop to trian communities in now to prevent conflit and provide them with support to come up with sustainable solutions.
