Running a marathon is an enormous personal achievement. Our London Marathon Golden Bond runners not only complete one of the most famous races in the world, but also raise funds to support some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

Story

In October 2022 I will taking on the challenge of the London Marathon with the sole aim of raising as much money as possible for Brathay Trust.

My association with Brathay began back in 2014 when I ran my 5th ever marathon at Windermere, and I have been inspired to run my socks off for them year after year since. I have felt the support, love and counsel that Brathay offer to so many troubled and broken children and it has had an enormous positive impact on me. That's something for which I will be ever grateful.

Without a doubt, that run around Windermere in 2014 paved the way for my immersion into my marathon running journey, and that journey has brought so many good friends and good times into my life. This fundraising challenge for Brathay is also my way of saying thank you to the Trust and the lovely people there who have done so much for me.

These last couple of years I have been plagued by injuries (I'm not as young as I once was), and on two occasions it has taken 6 months to recover. It's been so hard to stay motivated on the road back but raising funds for Brathay always helps to keep me going. I'm so happy the charity has once more provided an opportunity for me, and I hope I do them proud.

Please support me with a donation, and I know it's irksome, but please add Gift Aid. The charity get an extra 25% from the taxman, and it costs you nothing.

We work with a wide range of young people, often with fewer opportunities in life, including those managing the transition from living in care to independence, at risk of exploitation in unhealthy relationships, needing confidence to find work or training, or facing other challenges in their lives.
