In May 2014 I found myself running at the Brathay Windermere Marathon. This is where I first became aware of a fantastic organisation called Brathay Trust who do absolutely incredible work to turn around the lives of some of the UK's most disadvantaged young people. The primary purpose of the marathon is a fundraiser for the charity, and alongside the main race there is an even greater challenge:

In May 2015 I joined a team of inspiring people and embarked on the greatest endurance challenge of my life as I ran the Brathay Windermere Marathon course on 10 consecutive days. That's 10 full distance marathons in 10 days or 262 miles. It hurt so much, both physically and emotionally, but I received amazing support along the way and was able to raise more than £4,000.

I've always said life's too short and I should never go back, but I've recently had some stark reminders of my own mortality. For just that reason that life is too short, I've come to realise everyone has the right to a second chance, and I have been drawn back to Brathay and all those children, young adults and their families that need that chance.

So here we go again! In May 2017 I will be taking on the Brathay 10in10 for the 2nd time. Knowing what it takes to train, complete this event, and also fundraise makes it even more scary and I just hope I have what it takes to get the job done a 2nd time. I can work on the physical side but I'll need a lot of support on the financial and emotional side, and this is where you come in.

Please please please give any money you can spare to support me and Brathay Trust. Every pound you donate goes to the trust and is spent directly on improving the lives of compromised and disadvantaged young people and their families in the UK. These young people are our future and deserve their second chances.
