Running for My Mum and Dad - Jim & Toni Wilson
Thank you for visiting Angela Jackson's fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online! (or see me in person for the paper version!)
As many of you already know, I sadly lost two of the most important people in my life to cancer back in 2004. We dealt with such a double loss, My Mother died 1st August 2004 to a Brain Tumour, and my Father died 8th September from Lung Cancer which had spread to his brain. They were both diagnosed in the April and spent from April - Aug/Sept in hospital together. Unfortunately both cancers had progessed too far for invasive treatment and within 5 months both my parents were taken from me.
The both showed such strong will all the way thru their illness, enjoying life and telling jokes at all times, even when at times you could tell it was getting to them.
Last year my sister Jackie and my neice Kerry ran this race but I was unable to after having only just given birth to Abigail. (born Oct 2004) I promised myself I would do it this year!
I may not be able to run all the way round, but I will complete the course no matter what! Photo evidence will be available after the event! For those of you interested I started my fitness training on the 1st of Feb!! **Update 1 stone & 4 pounds lost so far!
Unfortunately no amount of money will bring back my parents, but if just £1.00 can add towards the thousand of pounds raised by these events, then I would be happy. I would do anything to stop families going through the horrific few months we all went through.
As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue our life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Lots of Love,
Angela xx
P.S If you are reading this and are female and want to join me on this event, please do! The more the merrier! I will need the support! I feel knackered just walking to the printer to print this out! :-P
