BETH’S STORY - Cancer is a horrible disease that affects nearly every family in one way or another. Unfortunately my family has been affected as 10 years ago (March 2003) my Auntie Catherine died. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2002 and although I was very young when she died I still have very vague memories. I have listened to my Dads stories of the mischief they used to get up to when they were younger and of the things Auntie Catherine used to do with me when I was little. Cancer took away someone very special and robbed me and my family of even more special memories. Mine is not the only story of loss, there are thousands of similar stories to be told. Please help me to raise as much money as possible so that more research can be done to beat this disease and help to reduce the number of families affected. Most of you know that I am not the most energetic of people as I love to do sit and do crafty things. But this year I am determined to have a more healthy approach to life. For the past couple of months Debbie has been taking me out running once a week to help me achieve my goal and so that I can take part in the Race for Life she has agreed to run with me and my friend Lucy. Together we hope to raise as much money as possible. Hopefully one day cancer will be an illness that is treated just like flu and it will not have such a devastating effect on so many families. So please support me in supporting cancer research. Thank you.
LUCY’S STORY - Beth told me that she was going to do the 5K Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research because her Auntie Catherine died from cancer. She is right; nearly every family knows someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. My mum’s sister, Auntie Rachel was diagnosed with breast cancer and fortunately she was one of the lucky ones and managed to beat it. I think we all need to help stamp out cancer which is why I am supporting Beth in her quest. We are doing something that we would not normally do so please reward us and help us to achieve our fundraising target and dig deep to sponsor us and remember to gift aid where possible, it really does make a difference.
DEBBIE’S STORY - I have been going out running with Beth for a couple of months now and she has been putting so much effort into her training so when she asked me if I would run in the Race for Life with her as she needed an adult to accompany her I couldn’t say no, especially when she has even managed to get Lucy to agree to it as well. Both girls are so enthusiastic, not only are they going to be getting fitter and healthier themselves by doing it they will be helping others as well. It is a great to see two young girls so fired up. I just hope they don’t show me up on the day and leave me standing. So come on lets support the youth of today and help them achieve their goal. Thank you.
