Our Nanny has beaten cancer...

Nan has battled through breast & bowel cancer, tackling Chemotherapy, operations and all sorts of medicaton. She was left utterly exhausted and for a short while we thought it had broken her spirit. We shed many tears over the months, wishing there was a way we could help her, a way to ease the suffering and make it disappear. 

Nan responded well to the treatment and her fighting attitude saw her bounce back. 

Unfortunately her therapy has left some damage to her heart and a few months ago she suffered a heart attack. Fortunately Nan has the most amazing personality and even managed tell the paramedics that she didn't mean to be rude but she couldn't offer them a cup of tea at that moment! The paramedics and doctors & nurses at Bournemouth Hospital were fantastic and eventhough it was touch and go, Nan managed to hold on and stabalised. She later admitted that she had never been so terrified in her life. 

Nan is now fighting fit and long may it continue. It is obvious that it is her positive attitude that pulled the family together and made us all believe she would get through it. Last week she has been given the all clear again and now only has to go to the hospital for check ups every 6 months. The last few years have been emotional, we have learnt to cherish everyone around us, it can be a very cruel world.

We are so proud of our lovely Nan, and would like to tell her how much we love her.

We would like to thank Bournemouth Hospital and their fantastic oncology unit, as well as the doctors and paramedics who saved her life when her heart failed.
